Unites States Small Business Administration Disaster Assistance
The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Upon a request received from a state’s or territory’s Governor, SBA will issue under its own authority, as provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by the President, an Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration.

Massachusetts: The Greg Hill Foundation – Restaurant Strong Fund
The Greg Hill Foundation has teamed up with Samuel Adams* to support those from the Massachusetts restaurant industry who have been impacted by the Covid-19 closures by providing $1,000 grants to as many qualifying grantees as possible. Sam Adams is kickstarting the Restaurant Strong Fund with a donation of $100,000 and a commitment to match donations through 3/31 up to an additional $100,000.

New! $2.2 Trillion Relief Package
- Unemployed workers: $260 billion for emergency unemployment insurance. Weekly benefit increase of $600 for four months. Includes extra 13 weeks of coverage for people who have exhausted existing benefits. Also covers part-time, self-employed, gig economy workers.
- Small Businesses: $350 billion in loans for companies with 500 employees or fewer, including nonprofits, self-employed people and hotel and restaurant chains with up to 500 workers per location. Provides 8 weeks of cash assistance through loans to cover payroll, rent and other expenses, much of which would be forgiven if the company retains workers. Also $17 billion to help small businesses repay existing loans; $10 billion for grants up to $10,000 for small businesses to pay operating costs.
- Stimulus Checks: One-time payments of $1,200 per adult, $2,400 per couple, $500 per child. Amounts begin phasing out at $75,000 for individuals, $150,000 per couple.
Coronavirus Relief Package Passed into Law – Paid Sick Leave & Free Testing:
Relief Package Key Points:
- Two weeks of full-pay sick and family leave to workers who are in quarantine or helping family members with COVID-19, or who have children whose schools have closed because of the virus.
- A total of 12 weeks of paid leave to many of those with children in schools that have closed. Workers will get ~67% of their normal salary for this period
- Bolster unemployment insurance
- Free coronavirus testing
- Boost the SNAP food assistance program and federal funding for Medicaid
